Thinking of making a mug version of the sailboat cup next ⛵️

In ceramics, “seconds” refers to pieces with slight imperfections. A cracked handle, a pinholed glaze, or some other feature that didn’t quite turn out as intended. It’s easy to feel disappointed when these come out of the kiln, given all the care that went into the piece.

But there’s a silver lining- I get to keep them! Over the next few days I’ll be sharing some of my favorite moments in my home, courtesy of my seconds 💕

2. Worry about cracks, compress bottom
3. Pull up walls
4. Cause bowl to become off center from pulling up walls
5. Fix bowl
6. Remain unsatisfied with bowl, reshape repeatedly
7. Accept defeat
8. Change mind and like bowl
9. Trim bowl
10. Admire shininess
